2024 Shoong Family Chinese Cultural Center Graduation Ceremony

Explore the highlights from the 2024 Shoong Family Chinese Cultural Center Graduation Ceremony.

On May 24, 2024, the Shoong Family Chinese Cultural Center held its annual graduation ceremony in the school auditorium, celebrating the achievements of its 6th and 9th grade students. Nearly one hundred students and their families attended the event, creating a warm and celebratory atmosphere.

The ceremony started with Board President Jones Wu’s words, who expressed his gratitude to the students and their families for their support. He encouraged the graduates to continue striving for excellence in their future studies and lives. Following this, School Alumni & Board Member Richard Cooc took the stage, acknowledging the hard work and achievements of the students, and stressing the value of attaining a Chinese language education.

A special moment in the ceremony was when the graduating students presented flowers to the statue of Mr. Joe Shoong, paying their respects to the school’s founder. Then our Headteacher Ms. Zhong, along with homeroom teachers Ms. Huang and Ms. Luo, each delivered heartfelt speeches. Ms. Luo notably mentioned that this year marked her tenth graduating class at the school, a statement that received enthusiastic applause from the audience.

The ceremony also featured touching speeches from the student representatives: Silvia Li from 9th grade and Erica Deng from 6th grade. They shared their learning experiences and feelings about their time at the school, including the knowledge they gained and the friends they made. They thanked their parents for their upbringing, the school, and their teachers for their guidance. Their eager anticipation for the future and cultural pride were evident in their speeches, perfectly reflecting the mission of our school: to nurture generations of young people who are proud, responsible, and capable regarding their Asian cultural heritage.

After these speeches, Board President Wu along with Board Members Francis Lan, Helen Chou, and Richard Cooc presented the graduation certificates to the students. As each student stepped forward to receive their certificate, the auditorium filled with applause, and proud parents captured the memorable moments with their cameras.

This graduation ceremony was not only a recognition of the students' academic achievements but also an encouragement for their future. The Shoong Family Chinese Cultural Center hopes that through celebratory events like this, students can feel a sense of accomplishment and look forward to their futures with optimism. Graduation is not the end but a new beginning. We wish all our graduates to continue pursuing their dreams and to forge bright futures ahead.

We believe that everyone who attended the ceremony will cherish this day and look forward to seeing our students continue to excel in their studies and lives.
